And the winner is...
United and Continental Airlines had an internet contest (United Charity Mile Give-a way) from midnight December 14 until December 31st, 2011. The airlines were giving away 10 million miles to charities. Each charity was guaranteed 25,000 miles. There must have been around 30 different charities listed with Shriners Hospitals for Children® being one of them. The Daughters of the Nile got the word out to the membership and we all started voting for Shriners Hospitals for Children® once a day; and when the dust settled, Shriners Hospitals for Children® was the big winner. We just found out February 2, 2012, that 3 million miles were deposited into Shriners Hospitals for Children® account. Shriners International is writing up an explanation of the process regarding the use of these miles and it will be distributed once it is complete. Imperial Shrine would like to thank all of the Daughters of the Nile who voted AND for asking their friends and families to participate as well. The children will be the real winners.
